The mission of the Mesa Community College Center for Urban Agriculture CUA is to promote education, beautification of the world around us, and public awareness of healthy eating and living through sustainable urban agriculture, aquaponics, and local food production. The Center for Urban Agriculture located at MCC's Southern and Dobson campus includes organic teaching gardens, an organic urban farm, a state of the art teaching greenhouse, and vertical farm which support students in the Associate of Applied Sciences degree and certificate programs in Sustainable Agriculture and Landscape Horticulture. We are looking for volunteers to help harvest and transplant fall vegetables at the Center for Urban Horticulture at the University of Washington on Saturday, August 28th. Center for Urban Horticulture site. Please bring a refillable water bottle, a hat and sunscreen. The farm team will provide gloves and tools, but if you have a comfortable pair of gloves, feel free to bring them. Please avoid wearing black or yellow clothes heat and bees. Beginning with fun warm-up exercises you will be guided in an intuitive approach to sketching with pen, layering watercolor washes, and gathering tips that can be applied to everyday sketching. In this online, but hands-on, class you will have the opportunity to work from summer flowers and foliage from your own garden. This class will be especially beneficial to those who want to document their own gardens or nature close to home. Class size is kept small to give you lots of personal attention.
